Would You REALLY Like To Become A JEDI!

March 1st 2008 09:15
Jedi Knight
Thousands of Australians during a national census have been known in the past to put down their religion as being 'Jedi'.

Now it seems the first 'Jedi Church' is in the makings thanks to brothers Barney and Daniel Jones of Anglesey, Wales

They claim to have up to 400,000 members worldwide, with 80 of those physically in Anglesey, and base their religion on the teachings of Yoda to promote inner peace.

Taking their religion seriously, they have also offered to start up lightsabre fighting classes when construction in completed.

It's certainly not the first time this type of 'religion' has sprung up. After all, Scientology was born out of the science fiction writings of Ron L. Hubbard.

Scientology was actually invented by some german dude back in the 1930s and subsequently Hubbard added a sci-fi twist to it.

Sure...
I mean why not? After all the Jedi are all about very noble beliefs so I think that the basics of the Jedi order are well worth looking into as a religion.

Become Jedi, I shall.

Call it the Church of Nerdology.

Because that is who will be lining up to join.

I love the Jedis. Sometime I wish I can really become one of them.

Just to let you know, the cloest thing to the Jedi knights on star war, was the Shaling monks during...I think it was around the 5AC.

I am probably going to write about it within one of my next few posts, but I want to get some of my facts correct first.

Good point James... I couldn't give up being a Trekkie first and foremost ... but I do like to experiement and to learn new ways too... but always a trekkie at heart.

I wonder if you have to denounce being a trekkie first?

I actually did an article on this topic about 7 years ago for The Brisbane Courier Mail, which pondered the attraction of Jedi as a religion....will have to dig it out.

We've been around since 2005 and our ministers legally conduct marriages anywhere in the United States. I'm delighted to hear of more Jediism Churches but these folks are hardly the first and neither are we.

We are the first to be actually incorporated as a non-profit tax exempt religious corporation and donations to us are tax exempt by 501(c)3 of the IRS code just like any other church.

You can look us up in the public records of The State of Texas here:

I am quite surprised at the lack of respect people have towards them, dude let them do thier own thing its not like they walk around in groups singing and trying to lure people to believe what they do?

never the less the things the jedi stand for are basic things that evryone should stand for whether or not we adopt the guise of religion.

it really quite basic.

im sure these jedi wont be so disrespectful of other peoples beliefs and stuff.

a small message to all who posted out of disrespect for a quick forum lol.
