K Stands For KALAMITY!!!

Model of a K-Class Submarine

During World War 1 while the German Navy displayed its supremacy beneath the waves, the British Military decided that it needed its own fleet of similar submarines to contest them.

Therefore a plan to create a range of K-Class steam-powered, submarines was put into action. However the 'K' of K-Class came to stand for something else - Kalamity. The following short list may give you just a hint as to why.

* During November, K1 and K4 collided near Denmark and were sunk.

* K2 caught on fire on her first ever dive.

* K3 sank mysteriously before resurfacing and no-one knows why.

* During a mock battle, K5 dived and was never heard from again.

* K13 sank during sea trials when the engine room flooded.

K15 sank at her mooring in Portsmouth when water flooded in through open hatches as she submerged.

* And in the most 'Kalamitous' scuffle yet, cruiser HMS Fearless collided with K17 which then sank, while K6 on seeing this, attempted to avoid the cruiser by neatly slicing K4 in half, before being rammed by K7 to join the rest of the stinking sinking fleet.

Afterwards, K18, K19 and K20 became the new M class submarines, while K21, K23, K24, K25, K27 and K28 were cancelled.

A FISHY TALE!!!

March 4th 2009 10:57
Mobile phone
Recently a man who lost his phone on a beach had it returned to him after it was found inside the belly of a codfish.

Originally realising he had lost his phone at the beach, he had expected to never see it again, but then a week later his girlfriend's phone rang quite obviously displaying his old mobile number. On the other end was a fisherman who had been surprised upon catching and gutting a 25lb cod, to find a mobile phone inside.

Be careful what you put in your hair these days - you might get more than you bargained for!

Hair bands, hair elastics, hair ties, seeming innocent little blighters, but some may have a deeper darker secret than just preparing to snap at the most inopportune time and place!

poker
During 1858, a man named Robert Fallon who was out playing poker was shot dead by other members of the table who believed his current winnings of $600 had been attained by cheating.

Because none of the other players considered the $600 pot to be lucky, Fallon's seat remained empty. However they were able to fill it at the eleventh hour with a new player and the game played on.

IT FELL From The SKY II! MONEY

July 4th 2008 10:15
In 1968, shoppers in Kent, UK, were surprised by falling coinage on the footpath. Apparently they came from nowhere with only the sound of them hitting the ground alerting the shoppers to their presence, and the dents in them backed up the story that they had fallen from the sky. There were no tall buildings or planes nearby.

In 1976 over a Piazza in Rome, a light plane dropped a large quantity of 500, 1000, and 10000 lira bank notes. The pilot of the plane was never identified.

meat
All sorts of strange and bizarre items have fallen from the sky in the past, but how would you feel if a lump of fresh meat landed in your lap?

In 1851 soldiers at a base out near San Francisco were practising drills when they were hit by blood and pieces of meat, from a cloudless sky.

March 15th 2008 09:00
OK, I'm not giving out a fact for today, unless I can say that it's a fact that this is seemingly idiotic, but actually I need someone out there in cyberspace to explain this one to me?!?!

flag of Japan Japanese
So if there are any Japanese speakers around, you can probably help me out with this rather bizarre little man and his website. I know the Japanese have a reputation for having a bizarre sense of humour, but can someone explain to me what he's saying HERE?

Some Bizarre Deaths of 2006-2007

August 14th 2007 00:35
* 2006 - Steve Irwin, television personality, Wildlife Warrior and owner of Australia Zoo, otherwise known as The Crocodile Hunter, died when his heart was impaled by a short-tail stingray barb while filming a documentary entitled "Ocean's Deadliest" in Queensland's Great Barrier Reef.

Ironically, the stingray was not the creature being filmed. It was deemed "not dangerous enough" to be featured in the documentary.

A young and upcoming actor at the time, James Dean while driving his Porsche Spyder was killed in a fatal car accident on September 30th, 1955. A strange string of coincidences have surrounded the car ever since.

After buying the car Dean had introduced himself to Alec Guinness and asked him to take a look at the Spyder. Guinness thought the car appeared "sinister" and told Dean: "If you get in that car you will be found dead in it by this time next week." This conversation reportedly occurred on September 23, 1955.
