Presidential Fun Facts: George Washington
May 5th 2006 01:19
Today I'm going to do another American presidential fun fact post, this time about George Washington.
It was hard to select just one or two fun facts on Washington, especially being as I couldn't exclude the ice cream fun fact, which is...
Fun Fact 1: Washington liked icecream and in fact had an icecream cooler or two installed in his house when this certainly wasn't the norm (wikipedia claims it was the first ice cream cooler in the colonies...)
Fun Fact 2: Washington had false teeth, which at times were constructed at least partially from other human's teeth. Maybe this was connected with the large amount of ice cream consumption (although I suspect not)
Fun fact 3: One site points out that when Washington became president France had a king, Russia a Tsarina, China an Emperor and Japan a Shogun. The office of president is the only one that has survived until today.
Fun fact 4: Washington was the first president to be featured on a postage stamp.
Come back next week if you want to see some more presidential fun facts, or tomorrow if you just want to see more fun facts in general.

I read somewhere that George Washington's fake teeth was made out of hippo tusks. In case you were wondering.
