PLUR - What Does It Really Mean?
June 20th 2007 00:01
PLUR! PLUR! PLUR! PLUR! PLUR!
So what exactly does PLUR mean?
PLUR is a recent but commonly used acronym used mostly by those into the rave scene. It stands for "Peace, Love, Unity, Respect".
It may be interpreted as the way that a raver believes he or she should live his or her life, and how people are expected to behave at a rave.
The term was reportedly coined by DJ Frankie Bones in response to a fight that broke out while he was mixing. He stopped the show with, "If you don't start showing some peace, love, and unity, I'll break yourinsert obvious term here faces." 'Respect' was added later on after discussions on the usenet newsgroup alt.rave.
Alternate versions
Many ravers will also add the words "Responsibility" to improve their image, "Kindness", "Understanding" and/or "Honour" at the end.
Some versions use the word "Rave" in the acronym. The most common are:
* Peace, Love, Unity, Rave.
* Police Love Us Ravers
* People Look Ugly Rolling
* Please Let Us Rave.
A more recent interpretation, most notably associated with Neu Rave, is Pushing Limits Until Retarded.
This post was inspired but hopefully not plagiarised from Brenton on the Orble writers forum along with help from others. It was however pinched for the most part from Wikipedia. (Thanks Ahmed!)

I have seen PLUR around the traps of late and had no idea what it meant. Now I have been enlightened. I love a day when I learn new stuff!

Nah. Bring ther plur to everyone I say.
The double meaning of the R is Respect/Responsibility for alot of ravers I know, who are sick of irresponsible scene kids trying to be cool, popping too many pills and getting sent to hospital.
