June Facts For The JuneBug!

Today is the first day of June, but apart from it being a month mid-way through the year heralding Winter/Summer depending on which hemisphere you live in, what else do you know about it?
Try these interesting facts out:
* No other month begins on the same day of the week as June. This year, that day is Friday.
* June 19th is the birthday of Garfield, a comic strip created by Jim Davis.
* June's flower is the rose or honeysuckle.
* June's birthstone is the pearl, Alexandrite, or moonstone.
* June is named for the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter and the Greek equivalent of the goddess Hera.
* In the 19th century, Catholic countries devoted June to the worship of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
* On June the 1st 2007, loud excited noises, grunting and sweating are expected in this household as hubby opens up his birthday present to find the one thing he REALLY wants and never expects to ever get..... a Nintendo Wii.
To put the excitement of this fully into perspective, the last games console we had in this house was a 16bit Sega Megadrive.
Luckily for him, everyone took the same amount of pity on us as I imagine you are all now doing right now, and chipped in for it.

I'm pretty sure there won't be any grunting, sweating or loud noises going on over here though...
Last year I got a sweater from my sister...a hand made sweater...which would have been great if it actually got cold enough to wear one...and it weighed over 12 pounds...wool...hot...cabled. ..turtleneck...and in California no less...I ask you...
Ah well, maybe this year she'll make me a pair of cotten shorts!

I can't believe that no other month of the year starts on the same day as June....weird.
I did know Garfields birthday was in June though......I've always loved that lasagne eating cat!!!
I hope your hubby enjoys his Nintendo Wii and doesn't drive you too mental with it.
