As for the human hair, I've actually had reason to try this out before believe it or not.
When I was doing Visual Arts at Uni, we were supposed to bring in some fishing line for an experiment involving ceramics and weights. having forgotten the fishing line, and realising that I had hair all the way down to my derriere, I decided to try some hair instead. It worked very successfully.
Unfortunately I was not the only member of the calss that day to have forgotten the fishing line and by the end of the day was suffering from a reasonably sore head!
