A Grave Request, Locating GRAVES!

July 10th 2007 00:25
gravestone
Ever wondered where the grave sites of certain people lie?

The final resting place of many, including that of notable figures such as Shakespeare through to John Lennon and JFK can now all be found on the internet along with a brief biography.

But the Find A Grave website will not only help you locate the graves of the famous, but also of your own ancestors with their search function of over 16 million grave sites.

Some of the more popular searches of late have included:

* Princess Diana - former wife of Prince Charles.

* Robert Mitchum - Movie star.

* Michael Landon - Actor. Best known for "Little House On The Prairie" and 'Highway to Heaven."

* Raymond Burr - Actor. Best known for the title role in the “Perry Mason” weekly television series.

* Walter Matthau - Movie star.

Melissa,

a tad creepy but, I'd go and hunt for them myself!

LOL

This was a great post, and I really think that website you recommended was really well done...

Lots of creepy fun to be had! Especially on Halloween night!

Take care,

Nick

Mesliissa,

*lol*..you've cracked me up again...indeed, where do you find this stuff... it is so interesting.

Who would have thought of this... it'll be such a boon for Historians and those searching down the family tree. I think it is marvelous and will go and have a look myself, too.

Thanks for passing this on.

Lilla

When I was last in New Zealand, my family and I went to my grandfather's home town. We asked at the information office for directions to the cemetery, and he looked at us like we were mad. Good to know we aren't the only ones interested in the graves of our ancestors.

When I lived in the Dominican Republic, I saw one of the graves of Christopher Columbus. When I visited Spain, I saw another of his graves. How should I determine which grave really has his bones?

Everyone wants to think that they were closer to a famous person who died than any other city.
