Inhererited Characteristics/Traits AKA - CAN YOU ROLL YOUR TONGUE????
January 8th 2009 10:59
You may have a vague recollection of coming across this in high school science - particularly if you did biology and genetics.
There is a set of traits that we all as human beings have one or the other of. These are known as inherited traits or characteristics. Depending on which traits your parents have determines your outcome, but it is a 50/50 split as to whether you inherit a particular trait or not..
The most commonly known one is the ability to roll, or not roll, your tongue.
After this there are others such as:
Attached Earlobes / Unattached earlobes
Second toe longer than big toe / Second toe not longer than big toe
Dimples / No Dimples
Right-handed / Left-Handed
Widow's Peak - the V-shaped peak at the centre of your foreheads hairline / Straight Hairline
Left Thumb on top when Hands Crossed / Right Thumb on top when Hands Crossed
Hair on middle finger of hand / No hair on middle finger
Hitch-hiker's Thumb / No Hitch-hiker's Thumb
Bent little finger / Straight little finger
