What Children Think Of The Sea!

July 15th 2008 10:30
underwater sea
A number of primary schools were doing a project on "The Sea." The children were asked to draw pictures or write about their experiences.
Teachers then compared the results and put together some of the 'better' ones.

1. This is a picture of an octopus. It has eight testicles. (Kelly age 6)

2. Some fish are dangerous. Jellyfish can sting. Electric eels can give you a shock. They have to live in caves under the sea because I think they have to plug themselves in to chargers. (Christopher age 7)

3. Oysters' balls are called pearls. (James age 6)

4. If you are surrounded by sea you are an Island. If you don't have sea all around you, you are incontinent. (Wayne age 7)

5. I think sharks are ugly and mean, and have big teeth, just like Emily Richardson. She's not my friend no more. (Kyle age 6)

6. A dolphin breathes through an asshole on the top of its head. (Billy age 8)

7. When ships had sails, they used to use the trade winds to cross the ocean. Sometimes, when the wind didn't blow the sailors would whistle to make the wind come. My brother said they would be better off eating beans. (William age 7)

8. I like mermaids. They are beautiful, and I like their shiny tails. How do mermaids get pregnant? (Helen age 6)

Update

May 20th 2008 08:40
Just so you know what's going on, I haven't been around for a while due to various issues, one of which is the steadily decreasing health of our family dog, who was left in the care of good friends back home while we were transferred overseas for a couple of years.

As the situation becomes progressively worse with the strong possibility of having to explain to our children why we may indeed need to put our beloved family friend 'to sleep', I of course am not really in a position to keep this blog up-to-date as of the moment

Santa Claus/ Father Christmas/ St Nicholas/ Kris Kringle, whatever name you call him, this is one man of which it can be said he has many names.

Depending on the country you're in, he could very well be called more than one name. In Australia he's usually referred to as Santa Claus, but occasionally other names pop up.

Chicken Hatching - LIVE!

Watching chickens hatch out of their small cramped living space can be a fascinating thing to watch.

While over here visiting the UK and looking at primary schools, I've stumbled across one school in particular who has, along with another school, purchased an incubator and is currently hatching out eggs.

The youngest authenticated mother is Lina Medina, who delivered a 6½-pound boy by caesarean section in Lima, Peru in 1939, at an age of 5 years and 7 months. The child was raised as her brother and only discovered that Lina was his mother when he was 10.

Bobbie McCaughey is the mother who holds the record for the most surviving children from a single birth. She gave birth to the first set of surviving septuplets - 4 boys and 3 girls on November 19, 1997, at the University Hospital, Iowa, US. The babies are named Kenneth, Nathaniel, Brandon, Joel, Kelsey, Natalie and Alexis.

We're all familiar with the popular concept of the floating bathtub toy known as the Rubber Duck, although these days some ducks are too hoity-toity for simple bath time fun as discussed in a previous post about quirky Valentine's Day gifts.

A POX On All CHICKENS!

chicken pox
OK, so chickens aren't actually responsible for causing chicken pox, but if I find the little bugger chicken who gave my eldest the dreadful pox I'll wring his/her scrawny neck!

As for why it's called chicken pox? I'll get to that a bit later.

Poo in their nappy just after you've just changed them into a new one.

Complain that they're not hungry after nagging and demanding a certain piece of food that is finally given to them. The food usually then has to either be eaten by the parent or thrown out immediately.
