A Sign To Fear???
May 4th 2007 00:25
Some parts of Austria have a major problem with motorists, usually tourists from Eastern Europe, stopping to urinate by the roadside.
This results in the smell of urine permeating the air, not exactly scented with minty freshness!
In order to combat the problem, Austrian officials have installed fake, snake warning signs in order to scare them off to a toilet.
There aren't any actual snakes in Austria but apparently the signs have made a huge difference. Locals have commented that you see men now coming up to bushes, getting ready to have a pee and then quickly zipping up their trousers when they see the signs.
The signs read 'Beware, mortal danger. Snakes' in Polish and Czech alongside a picture of a cobra. It also has the sign in English and German.
