Do YOU Have A SLIPPERY DICK?

Well - do you??? Or does it all sound a bit fishy to you - especially being on this blog which generally speaking is reasonably family friendly - I guess it depends upon how reasonable your family is.

OK - so the name isn't what it implies - I'm actually talking about Halichoeres bivittatus, otherwise known as the striped fish called 'Slippery Dick'. (it does make you wonder about the person who named it though!)

They grow up to about 30cm/12 inches and look a little something like this....

The True Nature of Santa's Reindeer!

An old, but timely fact:

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
In 1939, the management of the Chicago based Montgomery Ward department store decided to ask one of their employees, Robert L. May, to compose a story book for the children visiting their store that Christmas.

Drawing on his own experiences as a child and drawing on the line of thought from Hans Christian Anderson's "The Ugly Duckling", Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer was composed, published and handed out to a total of 2.4 million children.

Watching chickens hatch out of their small cramped living space can be a fascinating thing to watch.

While over here visiting the UK and looking at primary schools, I've stumbled across one school in particular who has, along with another school, purchased an incubator and is currently hatching out eggs.
