Here are the results from PNC's 2008 Annual Christmas Index.

Many factors have been brought into play this year including the rising cost of fuel and a lowered demand for certain items. However while some prices have increased, others such as the Three French Hens are now selling at a bargain price.


For the Year 2008, the actual cost of the gifts in the Twelve Days of Christmas is as follows:

* One Partridge in a Pear Tree: $219.99 - up 33.3% as opposed to 2007's rise of just 13.8%.

* Two Turtle Doves: $55.00 now for the pair, up 33.3%.

* Three French Hens: $30.00 in total - down by a whopping $15.00 on the full set of 3

* Four Calling Birds: $599.96 - $149.99 each, stable

* Five Gold Rings: $349.95 - after a 11.4% decrease.

* Six Geese-a-Laying: $240.00 - down $120 on 2007.

* Seven Swans-a-Swimming: $5,600.00 - $1,400 more this year with a 33.3% increase

* Eight Maids-a-Milking: $52.40 in total, up 12%.

* Nine Ladies Dancing: $4,759.00 - still steady at $528.80 each.

* Ten Lords-a-Leaping: $4,413.61 - up only 3%.

* Eleven Pipers Piping: $2,284.80 - up 3.2%.

* Twelve Drummers Drumming: $2,475.20 – up 3.2%.

The grand total of the song for this year - up 8.1% on the previous year's amount of $19,507.25, now stands at $21,080.10.
