American State Fun facts: part 1

Well I'm going to do a fun American state facts post each week for the next four or five weeks. So here is the first entry:
The official state sport of Texas is apparantely rodeo and there were problems with admitting texas to the USA as it was a slaveholding state and free states were worried that it's admission would tip the balance towards slaves.
Florida is the site of Cape Canaveral, where America's space missions leave from. Florida is also the second most southerly state.
Hawaii is the most southerly state in the United States. It did not become part of the states until 1959.
Michigan produces the most cereal of any state in the United States.
